- "Method and Madness: The Making of a Story" by Alice LaPlante. This is an excellent book for learning styles and rhythm in writing stories. I took a fall semester course at a local college and this was the book the teacher used for instruction. Our syllabus included in each class to read a chapter, complete one of the exercises, and read one of the accompanying stories. There were additional assignments for each class, so we were pretty heavy with homework! I learned a lot from this instruction and the actual writing.
A blog about a writer's life, including writing instruction, writing prompts, and information about contests and workshops!
